I have found that in the last few years I have had the urge to do things that in my previous life were things that I felt like I just didn’t have the time to do.  I now have lots of time to do things so there is now excuse anymore.  The first thing that I have been trying to do is learning the piano or the keyboard.  I have written about this before I thought I would talk about the next thing that I have always wanted to do which is to do a photography course.  Just before I was unwell I was looking into doing a course locally but luckily a course has become available for me to do at my Headway group which is perfect. I have always been interested in photography and always loved looking at photos of nature, buildings and landscape.  Photos of people not so much, probably as I don’t really like photos being taken of me.  I have attended three of the twelve sessions and I am really enjoying it.  Unfortunately for me the first couple of weeks was portraiture which meant lots of photos being taken of me.  It wasn’t too painful but the next step is to look at the photos on a computer and do some editing.  I am really enjoying it and the man who runs the session is really good.  It is a bit scary when he talks technically asking us about shutter speeds and ISO numbers, I haven’t got a clue! I have brought a book called ‘Digital Photography for Dummies’ to help.  I have a good camera so hopefully if I manage to learn anything I will finally understand what all the settings mean and when to use them.  I am not sure it is the right word but unfortunately,  especially in the last five years we have relied on our phone to take photos and have forgotten about the expensive cameras we own.   The tutor has actually told us that despite owing a camera worth thousands of pounds when he goes on holiday he puts this camera in the safe and just uses his phone to take photos!  That is why I am so happy that I now have the opportunity to do a photography course.  It is exciting to have the opportunity to finally find out about how to take photos properly.  I heard someone say last week that we need to make a positive out of a negative.  There is a lot to write about this so I will write a blog around this in the future.
